Samsung (UN55J6200/UN50H6350) Plex app no longer able to playback video, can login

$

0

This started only recently and I don't know what the cause is. The Samsung Smart TV clients can connect and browse but upon playback they get a "unable to connect to the content server" - my logs on the server side (v1.2.2.2857( on x64 Win10) show there's a 0 of playback after the attempt.

I've tried turning it from PREFERRED for secure connections to DISABLED, adding the affected IP addresses to "not require signin" and still no go. iPhone and Xbox Plex clients are still able to connect, as are desktop browsers.

Anyone else getting this problem?

Gradual Audio Sync Issue - Samsung UE49KU6400

Hi

All video files that I play using the Plex client on this TV seem to be gradually losing sync between audio and video. At first all is ok, but after around 30 minutes it's noticeable that the audio is slightly ahead of the video. The longer you play the file, the worse it gets. Pausing the video and then playing it again immediately brings it back in sync. This happens on all files that I've tried, each are MP4 H264 files with AC3 audio. 23.976 fps video and 48000Hz audio. The files play using Direct Play. The same files don't experience this issue played using the Plex client on a Roku Stick or using Plex Media Player on a PC. I also haven't noticed any audio sync issues on other apps on the TV such as YouTube.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks

BUG: Samsung 2.005 client and Secure Connection

Hi

I have several 2013 and 2014 model (E and F series) Samsung TV's, and after enabling "require secure connections" on my PMS and setting up secure connections in the 2.005 Plex client for samsung smart-hub TV's, it's having trouble discovering my PMS.

Every time the TV is turned on and I start plex, it log's into my account, lets me select my user, but then fails to discover my homeserver automatically. Other (remote) servers are seen just fine.
If I cancel the server selection box and go to preferences, it will discover the server fine under "Servers", and after that the client works perfectly - shows content and streams from my home server just fine.
If i Exit the client and later on start it again (without turning off the TV), it finds my server right away and works as expected.
If i turn of the TV wait a while and try again, my problem starts all over.

The behaviour is seen on 4 different TV's of different size and models (E and F series)

I have found seveal threads describing he same problem - like this:
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/217547/samsung-tv-secure-connections

But they all just offer the work around of disabling secure access. I'm not interested in that solution.

As far as I can see the 2.005 client is the lastest in the samsung shop. Any chance of a fix to this issue?

Plex + Smartshare (LG) + subtitles (+Handbrake?)

So subtitles aren't showing up on some movies with LG smartshare using a Plex server running on a QNAP. LG Electronics 43UF7600. Movies are encoded using Handbrake, and the subtitles are standard TXG3 and show up when using Plex with a browser. How does one troubleshoot this. I've checked the logs, and have found only this:
DEBUG - MDE: : selected subtitle cannot be converted to a compatible format, burning into video stream

But no relevant logs in the actual subtitle logs.

Thanks

Bug WebOS Language or Subtitle selection on playback start messing up playback

$

Hi,
a while ago I wrote something about that Issue. When I start a playback and the video did not start yet (three dot screen) and i begin changing subtitles or the audio language this messes up the whole playback (sometimes it does not start the playback, sometimes it shows random subtitles, sometimes it just ignores the language selection). Stopping the video and starting playback again fixes the messed up playback and also plays it whit the selected settings.

I was playing around with Plex Media Player lately and tried to reproduce this behavior there to figure out if this is a server or client issue. Basically it is not possible to reproduce this Behavior within PMP because it simply disables the Playback buttons so it is not possible to change the settings within this state. This would be a good way to fix up the user experience a bit within the WebOS app too.

Before upgrade with the last PMS version on a Windows 10 computer, i had no problem.
Since the upgrade with 1.2.6.2975-9394c87 it's impossible to access library from Plex on TV LG760s (4.62.10) .
I had to downgrade to an older version of PMS( 0-9-12-19) to have library access back.
Does anyone have an idea? I have joigned LG support too and i'm waiting for a reply

LG 55" SmartTV no longer displaying File List

Hey guys.

Okay, so I have a LG Smart TV Model 55LM7600 and I have Plex media Server Version 0.9.12.4 running on my network.

Plex and the LG SmarTV worked great, no stuttering, no lag nothing until about 4 days ago. X(

I can see the Plex media Server under my Input list and also under my Smart Share app on the TV, but when i click on either of those, it connects but says "No File".

Now I also have 2 Smart Phones (1 iPhone 6, 1 nexus 6) that will stream just fine in the network and through our devices LTE connection.

I also have a Amazon FireTV stick, that connects and streams just find using our local wifi.

The only device that cannot list files and play files from the Plex media server is the damn LG SmarTV that was working until about 4 days ago.

Things I have tried -

  • I have reset the LG SmarTV to default settings.

  • Used the AP on my computer to broadcast another SSID, TV can see the Plex media server but when trying to access "no Files"

  • Reinstalled Plex
  • I have enabled DLNA on plex (NEVER needed it before)
  • I have disabled DLNA on plex (wasn't enabled before I enabled it)

The only thing that is that has changed on the network is verizon upgraded my cable boxes and DVR boxes to new HD models, they are now showing up as DLNA servers, can this be causing some type of conflict? Any idea if they how to block the conflict?

If they are causing a conflict, when I switch to my PC's Access point, they disappear, but the same thing occurs when I click to browse the Plex media Server, it just says "No File"

I am really at a lost here, and need some help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

LG App Direct Play AVI Issue

$

Hi,

When using the official Plex App on my LG TV when I attempt to play an avi file, the server will attempt to transcode the file as opposed to Direct Play. This causes and issue as my NAS isn't capable of transcoding.

The TV is perfectly capable of playing the file natively as I can do this using the default player in the smart menu and accessing Plex as a DLNA client.

Is this behaviour a bug in the App/Server or is there a setting I can change for this?

In the app settings I've disabled Direct Streaming, but can't see any option for Transcoding. I would like to force direct play on the files.

PLEX app not working on Samsung TV anymore.

I am no longer able to use the Plex app on my Samsung Smart TV UN50EH5300 as it now won't connect or find my server (I had no problem previously when I started 2 years ago)....
I am using the same WIFI connection and IP address which has not changed and the 'Samsung Link' app on TV works fine with connecting to my PC (and YES, I AM signed in to my server on my PC and updates are current).
I have uninstalled the Plex app on my TV numerous times,, and also gone through the 'Plex for Samsung' manual thoroughly but nothing addresses this problem which seems to be with the TV app itself (??)
I can access the Plex server from my Samsung android phone as well....
But as soon as I open the app on my TV a black box pops up saying "Unable to connect to the Plex website!" and hitting the 'Retry" button does nothing except briefly make that pop up disappear. Behind this pop up box is the page that says to "Open browser on your PC , etc. and enter this code:" but the 4 boxes are empty with NO CODE (when I initially installed the Plex app a few years ago that code showed and I had no such set up problems).....
I then tried going to the Home page and clicked "Connect with your Plex Account" which takes me to the 'System' page and 'Sign in to your Plex Account' which also doesn't work (says "Login Failed").
I then went to 'Preferences' and 'Server' and then 'A - Add PMS' to enter the IP address of my server to configure manually but it doesn't recognize it.
Hopefully the "friendly Plex community" can help me with this issue as I have exhausted all troubleshooting in the manual that may have been applicable (although it does NOT address my problem specifically).

I can't see Chapter selections

Hi - just got my Samsung SMART TV (2016 KS7 series). Plex on it is awesome, but I was hoping to be able to do the equivalent of the 'swipe down' on the Apple TV version to be able to navigate by Chapter Titles.

Is this possible?

Many thanks.

Samsung Smart TV Playback has wrong resulution(only about 1/4 of picture)

I have the latest Plex Media Server running on a Windows 7 Desktop. 1.2.6.2975-9394c87
I have a Samsung smart tv with built in Plex app. TV UN55HU6840
When I play video content on my desktop using the plex media player, everything is excellent.
When I play video on the smart TV, The resolution is wrong. I see mayby about 1/4 or less of the picture on the screen. It plays any content fine but the screen is showing only art of the video screen. It's like you zoomed in too close.
It has been working fine for years but suddenly has this issue. I tried uninstalling the plex media server completely (older version) and reinstalling the latest version - same problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Server remote access issues - possibly second wifi IP address?

$

Hi

I've recently discovered that my server was not accessible remotely - after working fine for ages.

I had a look at the settings and have played with UPnP and Port Forwarding - trying with just UPnP or with manually entered Port numbers. I checked Ports - neither 80 nor 32400 could be seen externally (or anything I tried). I double checked my Port Forwarding rule (to 32400) - and it was definitely set to the correct IP. None of this helped.

Plex was already a rule in windows firewall (all profiles), but I disabled the firewall to be sure, and deleted the virus software, no help.

The HTPC had a static ethernet IP on the LAN - set in my router.

I read posts to see if someone else's solution could help me - and ended up wondering whether an IP issue was causing the problem. I'd recently enabled a WiFi adapter on the HTPC - so it was running with two IP addresses (192.168.1.3 ethernet and 192.168.1.45 WiFi). Plex was always connected to the internet - just not accessible - and always showed the right Private IP (192.168 .1.3) and always the right Public IP.

So, I then collected some log files - shutting down Plex and clearing out in between. One set is with both adapters on - and no access (remote off) - the other is with the WiFi adapter disabled - and I seem to have regained access outside of my network (no wifi). Double checking the Ports - 32400 can be seen under these conditions (suggesting the WiFi IP was contributing to the issue (why?) - although 80 is still blocked (I read that can be normal?).

Great, so why is he posting? Well, the first is I'd really like to know if the log data confirms that this was the issue. Secondly, I really need that WiFi network up. How can I resume the use of the WiFi adapter without causing Plex problems? My attempts to achieve this failed - so if it is this, I really need advice from some experts.

cheers very much.

PS - have reported this to moderators to be moved, as it should be in Plex Media Server > Windows (can't seem to delete and repost?) :\">

LG Smart TV Plex only works when computer is on

I thought the whole point of Plex premium is that my computer doesn't have to always be on to use Plex on TV, but I have ried everything and the TV still can't find my plex the minute comp shuts down. I have signed out an in a million times, the plex server is up -t--date, I have linked and relinked TV to plex, but each time I shut off computer it says "plex server needs your attention before you can connect to this device. Make sure you are signed in the Settings-Server of your web app and restart your server. Ys, did that a million times. Is there a phone number I can call for support? This is eating up way too much time.

"Unable to Connect to the Content Server" for some movies. Pine64 PMS + Samsung Smart TV

$

Hello,

I am facing a strange issue of some videos not playing, instead it displays "Unable to Connect to the Content Server".
I've done some extensive analysis and have some conclusions, but my findings don't seem to make much sense. I'm sharing it here so that someone who has better experience in this could possibly help me.

The System.
I have my PMS running on Pine 64. Based on the instructions found on the web, I've installed the Synology NAS package and things work like a charm for the most part. The PMS version is Version 1.2.6.2975-9394c87

My Plex Player is my Samsung TV. UN65J6630D.
Plex app version: 2.005

Secure Connections: Disabled.
Playback Mode: Direct Play (set as Default).

The Problem
Some of my movies fail to play on my Samsung Plex. When I press play, it gives me the error saying "Unable to Connect to the Content Server". I have copied these movies over to another high powered (Intel i7, 24GB etc) PMS server, and tried to play from that, but the TV still gives the same error.

I've tried to play these movies on Plex Web, and it works just fine.
I've tried to play this on my plex mobile app / chromecast, and that also works fine.

On my Samsung TV, if I set the playback mode to Transcoded, then all of these movies which give error, no longer gives the error, and it starts to play fine in Transcoded mode. Only Direct Play fails.

The Findings
After gathering a list of movies that failed to play, I started analyzing them one by one (MediaInfo, File Type, File Size etc) and I compared them to the movies that had similar properties, but worked fine on Direct Play mode. This is what I've found:

All the movies that failed to play has the following common properties:
1. Had ".avi" as their extension
2. On MediaInfo, the Format showed as "MPEG-4 Visual"
3. The filesize was above 2 GB.

I searched for some movies which has properties (1) and (2), but file size was less than 2 GB, and such movies played fine.

So the conclusion of my Finding is:
AVI files with MPEG-4 format having a file size of 2GB or more fails to play on Direct Play mode, and will throw the error "Unable to Connect to the Content Server".

The Confusion
So, after establishing all this, the question remains, WHY? Why does it happen that way? What could be the significance with the 2GB file size?
It's also worth mentioning, some files that were less than 2GB also at times failed to play, and throw the same error msg, but If I tried the second time or third time, it will play fine. So I'm thinking may be it's something to do with the format, and may be it takes quite a bit of resources to process it. And when the filesize it bigger, somehow its timing out? I don't know!

Anyone here is able to explain what could be happening here?
Any more importantly, any idea how to fix this? I really don't want to re-encode all those movies again into a friendly format that will play on the TV!

Thanks!
